1.Context - Rice is surrounded by outer hard coat [Husk] and inside soft cost [Bran]. Husk and Bran get removed during rice hulling and polishing process. The brown Bran of rice has many nutrients and dilatory benefits. Demand for Brown rice [Unpolished or Semi - polished] is growing up with increased awareness and health consciousness in community. This gives scope for production of brown rice at domestic level as low investment cottage scale business opportunity to rural community. In addition, to this there are very indigenous rice varieties in India, which are known for it's own taste and benefits. This varieties are mostly cultivated in small pockets and have importance in local community. With cottage scale rice processing we can promote this indigenous varieties. Rice de husking technology is very useful for rice farmers, rural youth, SHG's for producing brown rice at village level and earn extra income with simple value addition process.

2.Current scenario - Domestic level rice de husking machine is developed foe cottage scaled rice de husking. Machine is capable of producing brown rice [Hulling with removing Bran cover] with minimum breakage. Available in hand operated and motorized versions. Less space and less energy consumption.
